ABS-CBN buries news on Wowowee Tragedy

Let's say I'm clueless on who died in the Wowowee Tragedy. Let's say I'm an OFW who's worried that my poor lola might be among those who was in the Wowowee mob, and I'm now wondering if she could be among the 79 dead or the hundreds hurt. Where do I look for info? At the ABS-CBN News website, naturally. I expect them to post updates, and to post a list of the 79 fatalities, at the least.

But when I visited the ABS-CBN news website as this is being written, there is no prominent mention of the Wowowee stampede whatsoever, and if you do not look well enough, you will not see references to the Wowowee at the BOTTOM of the web page. There are three links to news items, all in small fonts, blue links over gray background.

ABS-CBN, the same TV station that airs the Wowowee game show, has buried the news on a major national issue!

And where are the names of the dead? There should be a list on the website, always available for anybody to see.

MANILA, Philippines -- A stampede broke out early Saturday outside a stadium near Manila where thousands had lined up to watch a popular game show, and at least 66 people were trampled to death, an official said. About 30,000 people were waiting to get inside the stadium for the program "Wowowee" when the mayhem erupted, said Vicente Eusebio, the mayor of Pasig, the Manila suburb where the stampede occurred.
